Who We Help and How We Support Your Recovery
At our treatment facility, we primarily serve adults aged 25-35+ who are struggling with substance abuse, addiction, and dual diagnosis. Upon intake, we work with clients to complete comprehensive assessments to help our providers better understand each client’s unique needs, goals for recovery, and other factors that may be contributing to ongoing addictive patterns. We use this information to create individualized treatment plans for our clients that incorporate their personal strengths and preferences while prioritizing client autonomy.
For those undergoing opioid addiction treatment, we utilize a combination of therapeutic modalities in both individual and group sessions to foster personal and relational well-being. Often, this includes medication-assisted treatment (MAT), evidence-based treatment approaches, case management, and behavioral health treatment services tailored to individual needs.
What Is Opioid Use Disorder?
Opioids are a category of licit and illicit drugs that are often used to treat pain. With this, they are also known for facilitating feelings of relaxation and euphoria, which make them incredibly addictive.
There are three main categories of opioid drugs. These include:
- Natural: Also known as opiates, natural opioids are derived from the seeds of the opium poppy plant. Examples of natural opioids include morphine, codeine, and opium.
- Semi-synthetic: These are created in laboratories by chemically processing natural opiates. Examples of semi-synthetic opioids include heroin and prescription opioids like oxycodone, hydrocodone, and oxymorphone.
- Synthetic: These are manufactured entirely in laboratories and contain no natural ingredients. An example of a synthetic opioid is fentanyl.
Opioid use disorder (OUD) is a form of substance use disorder (SUD) related to the misuse and abuse of these drugs. It is characterized by two or more symptoms related to opioid misuse. While this is not a complete list of warning signs, examples of symptoms related to OUD can include:
- Experiencing physical or psychological cravings to engage in substance use
- Increasing tolerance
- Experiencing withdrawal symptoms when opioid use is ceased
- Failing to fulfill major obligations or responsibilities at work, school, or home due to drug use
